- Spring fatigue. Springs are rated for a certain number of cycles. Busy units and older doors wear them out.
- Rust and weather. Exterior doors, humidity, and road salt corrode springs faster.
- Loss of tension. The door gets heavier over time as the spring weakens, until it can’t be lifted.
- Related damage. Bent curtains, worn guides, or a damaged axle can stress the spring and need fixing at the same time.
